On Sunday Morning October 30, 2016 Pastor Sledge sat down with the Children. He read this verse to them: A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24
He always reminds the Children of "Just Say No To Drugs"!
He had a jar of water and a wooden little man who represents a "friend". He dropped the man in the water. Explaining that a friend could not always be stable and sometimes they can fall away. He was floating and he took the friend out of the water. He was sharing with them how we love our friends and try to do anything to help out a friend. Water represents Jesus and he had a glass which represents a person. He put the glass (person) in the water (Jesus). He was telling the Children; I am in Jesus Heart and when we accepted Jesus, Jesus is in our hearts. We can not get Jesus out of our heart because he always loves us, we are his children. He gave each one of the Children two bags of Reese's Pieces because " I love each one of you to pieces" and he wanted each child to keep one package and give another package to someone they love. He had prayer and dismissed the Children.
These Children look so forward to this time with Pastor Sledge.
Rev. Sledge calls the Children down each week for a time of sharing. This week he shared John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. He looked in his bag and pulled out a Musical Blue Bird and talked about how he and his wife loved sitting on their porch and listening to the birds chirp. This was one of his favorite things that he and his wife loved to do. He asked the Children what was something that God made? After chatting with them about that he then told them he had something for them in his bag. He pulled out pieces of paper that had on it " I Love You". He asked them to give it to a friend at Church or School or whoever they wish to give it to. He was telling them how important it is for us to love each other. So he then dismissed the Children with a prayer. These Children so enjoy this. It is a reminder to a lot of us older members of how we did them same thing in Church when we were growing up.
